The authoses analyses three hundreds and ninety patients of frozen shoulder who were treated at the dept. of Orthopaedics, St. Marry´s hospital during 2 years of period from January 1973 to December 1974 and the results were as followed:
1. Among the 390 cases females were 252 cases (64.6%) and males were 138 cases (35.4%) and average age was 54.5 years. The involvements of the left side (53.1%) were slightly
more, than the, right side (46.,9%),, and 28 cases (7.2%) were bilateral.
2. 71.3% out of 390 cases were idiopathic (primary) and 14 cases (3.4%) were associated with diabetes mellitus.
3. Average duration of symptom at admission was 4.3 months and average duration of treatment was 12 weeks.
4. On simple shoulder X-ray studies abnormal findings were detected in 17.5% and osteoporosis, was the most common findings among them (8.0%)
5. One, third of total cases were received local injection of depo -medrol which had` not a significant effect on joint motion.
6. Total amount of an increase of range of motion of sholder joint were about 60 degrees in abduction and 25 degrees in external rotation and the. majority of those improvements were accomplished during first five weeks of treatment.
